Installed Wood Veneer Flooring

Laminated wood flooring gives you the rich, warm look of a wooden floor at a fraction of the cost. There is a wide range of wood tones and grains. It comes in prefinished, multi-layered planks with interlocking tongue-and-groove edges.

Most laminated floors are installed over plywood subflooring, but they can also be laid over smooth concrete slabs or existing vinyl flooring. They may be glued down or applied over a thin foam pad laid on the subfloor. Floating floors of laminated wood havethe tongues and grooves glued together. Some types are adhesive backed. Over concrete, a barrier of 6-mil plastic seals out moisture.

Laminated floors are less likely to suffer from humidity-caused expansion and contraction problems.They do not require sanding or protection. The wood is precision-milled to minimize board-to-board mismatch in height.
